Overcoming Stress Induced Tremors
/Story of Hope for McClaren
Challenges: Neurological tics, Neurological Tremors, Impaired Walking
When McClaren first came to Crossroads Chiropractic, she was experiencing sudden-onset tremors that had begun just a week earlier. Initially, the tremors lasted about a minute, would subside, and then flare back up. Over the next eight hours, they would come and go intermittently. After visiting a neurologist, McClaren's family was told that the tremors were likely a subconscious reaction to stress. However, the tremors were so severe that they began to interfere with her ability to talk, drive, and function like a normal teenager.
On her first visit to our office, McClaren arrived on crutches, supported by her mother and grandparents. Before this, McClaren was an active teenager, involved in sports like cheerleading. The onset of the tremors had completely disrupted her way of life. McClaren’s family was unsure how to help her, so out of desperation, her mom posted a video of the tremors on social media. A mom, whose child had gone through a similar experience, saw the post and recommended they come directly to our office.
McClaren’s main goal when starting care at Crossroads Chiropractic was to walk without assistance. After just one month of chiropractic care, she achieved that goal with ease. At the one-month mark, McClaren even drove to the mall (with her mom following) and had no issues whatsoever. Through chiropractic care, McClaren was able to regain control of her life.
This all started in the late spring/early summer of 2022, and to this day, McClaren continues with maintenance chiropractic care. She understands that stress triggered her tremors in the first place, and she recognizes that stress is something she will always have to manage. Chiropractic adjustments help her body process and adapt to these stresses more effectively.
Every now and then, when McClaren faces particularly stressful weeks or days, she can feel that something isn't quite right and senses that the tremors may return. But through regular chiropractic care, she maintains neurological balance, which helps her body manage stress in a healthier way. Chiropractic care allows her to process stress rather than holding onto it, preventing neurological repercussions from building up.
