Answers For A Child Struggling To Communicate!
/Story of Hope for Mason
Challenge: Autism, Nonverbal, Developmental Delays, Sensory Processing
Mason had a difficult start to life. During pregnancy mom struggled with addiction and at the age of 4 he came into the custody of his grandmother. When his grandmother brought him in for care she told us that mason was completely non-verbal and had an autism diagnosis. He had an autism diagnosis. He started with us at age 4 and was completely unable to speak. He would scream when things weren't correct/how he wanted them. One main example was a light in their home. If it was on and he wanted it off - he would scream at the top of his lungs until it was turned off. He was also only able to tolerate listening to 1 song on repeat. Playing a different sound would trigger a complete meltdown.
After consistent chiropractic care, his grandmother was able to see small signs of change first. He was able to use his words for the first time by seeing the light that aggravated him, pointing and saying, "Nona - fix." He also now able to listen to any music that is played. Mason was eventually able to head off to kindergarten loved to show off how he could read out loud.
Mason’s story gives us so much joy because he was able to become the child his grandmother always knew he was on the inside. Instead of seeing an overstimulated, misbehaving child.. the rest of the world is now learning how wonderful of a child he truly is.
