Challenges: Sensory Processing, Autism
Meet Tilly! When her mom first brought her to Crossroads Chiropractic she was dealing with many of the frustrations that can come with a child diagnosed high functioning autistic and sensory processing disorder. She had episodes of 0 to 100 and was completely unable to regulate her emotions. She had spent time in OT to give her regulatory tools but a lot of the time she was so dysregulated that she wasn’t able to use those tools. Things like family vacations and riding a bike were dreams that her family had given up on.
After consistent chiropractic care at Crossroads these were her mom’s words. “Chiropractic care has given us the ability to prepare our daughter to manage stressful situations better. When we know we have upcoming travel, Dr appointments, or stressful events we increase the number of adjustments a couple of weeks before to give our daughter the ability to manage the event the best way her body can. She has also learned what a calm nervous system is and will ask for an adjustment when needed. When we travel we locate a chiropractor trained in treating the nervous system and get her adjusted when we are out of town. That makes our trips more enjoyable for all of us. Chiropractic has given us a tool to use for managing our daughter’s nervous system which provides the family with more peace.”
Some of Tilly’s accomplishments since starting care include: going to a Disney park for a day, learning to ride a bike, wearing clothes other than costumes, wearing different pairs of shoes, attending a New Years Eve ball drop, and decreased incidents of bed wetting. All of these are things that were a distant dream when starting care but they are now Tilly’s every day reality.
We’re so excited that everyone else gets to know the amazing child that Tilly is!
