STRESS MODE: GOING 0 TO 100 MPH

Why do so many of us feel like we're going 0 to 100 mph everyday? Why do so many of our children do the same?

Lets dig into the science behind getting “STUCK” in stress mode, and how to get “DETOXED” if you are!

Every day, there are changes or challenge that bring stress. It causes parents to become overwhelmed and even feel toxic under stress.

It works very similarly for our children. We’re seeing teens and pre-teens affected by stress. They're experiencing more anxiety than ever before. It can really help your kiddos for them to see you doing well, being resilient, adapting, and not being consumed by stress.

Unfortunately, our brain is wired to have a pre-set default mode that automatically triggers the fight or flight and stress response.

Your brain turns on fight or flight, protective, stress, tension, 0 to 100 mode faster and easier than it switches to the rest mode. This rest mode is important for growth, relaxation, brain function, logical thinking, emotional regulation, digestion, and immune strength mode.

Neurologically, the rest mode or brake pedal is called, the parasympathetic nervous system and the Vagus nerve.

The reason so many of us get stuck in stress so easily is because it's the default setting for our nervous system and let's be honest... for a lot of us, we know we’re stressed. We’ve downloaded the calm app on your phone, tried breathing exercises, walks, and yoga. But when we’re in the middle of a meditation or yoga, the only thing we can think about is the to-do list!
